The internet is becoming crowded with web pages, and its becoming harder for online marketers to compete in this world-wide market. Online marketers, or e-marketers, need to be more analytically competent in order to compete in today’s online market. Google’s site optimizer can make this task easier for website owners.

Website design is essential when it comes to online success. It must look clean and organized with easy navigation. The contents of this web site should include information that will give a reason for visitors to stay or come back. Also, a means of purchasing products or services, such as a shopping cart, should be easily accessible for visitors.

Repeat business is important for long-term online business success. A website owner can easily get repeat business going by making newsletters and email subscriptions available. Web site owners can do this by utilizing feedburner, a free email subscription tool that provides a way to get newsletters out. Feedburner also provides statistics and tracking of website views.

With these changes made, your web site is now ready for the Google online marketing world. Now it’s time to utilize Google’s site optimizer which offers two different types of web site testing, A/B split tests and Multivariate testing. A/B split testing is appropriate for low traffic web sites, and web page testing.

Multivariate testing is more appropriate when particular pages on a website yield high traffic, as it can be used to test different locations within a web page. Multivariate testing is also able to test multiple locations on a web page at the same time. If you plan on using multivariate testing, you’ll first have to tag and identify links you want tested and set goals for these links.

Now its time to install the Google website optimizer. To start this process, click the Google website optimizer tab and follow the installation wizard. During the installation wizard you will be given options to implement variations and symbols. These implementations will be based on your particular marketing analysis needs. Before you actually implement the website optimizer, you can preview what these changes will look like before you start. After previewing, it’s time to start screening. Make it a habit to analyze the screening results for effectiveness. You can also duplicate the experiment in the event that you want to run it again.

Google’s multivariate test will allow you to observe the effectiveness of your website conversions, and is a good way of tracking web site performance. This will get customer loyalty going and will help with Return on Investment (profit divided by cost).

Split testing can be a great tool to help you increase your online sales if you know how to use it properly. Many people have never heard of split testing and may wonder what exactly it is. It’s a very simple concept that you can use to see which web pages produce the best results and why they are more successful than others. Split testing uses a script to rotate two different web pages on the same domain for every other visitor that visits the website.

A good example of this would be if you were trying to sell a product but you were trying to find out which method works best. So you create two different web pages for the product that you’re trying to sell. You then use the script which will automatically switch the sites so that they both get visited by people the same amount. Your script will then tell you which site worked better and you can thus set the better working site as your page.

So what’s the big deal with split testing? You will be able to increase your sales as you will be able to find out which site attracts more buyers. If you’re only getting a 1% conversion rate and then you use a split test and after the split test you’re up to 2% you will have doubled your sales for using something that’s very simple.

The best part about split testing is that you can keep doing it. If you find that your numbers are stationary then you can create another split test. Alternatively you can run a split test every time you get a better idea for a web page and constantly improve your sales.

Unfortunately sales are the driving force behind any business whether that business sells a product or a service. You must therefore maintain and increase them as much as possible. By testing you will gain important knowledge that you otherwise would be unaware of. You will start to know what methods of your advertising are actually working because of the increased sales. Next you will know which sites are the most attractive to customers and why. This is because you can constantly try new pictures, ads, and methods because they are so easy to switch out.

All of the information that you gain from a split test can be used across every site that you have. This will make you more knowledgeable on what works and allow you to utilize it in ways you may have never thought possible. If you are skeptical about trying a split test then you should give it a try because you will never know if it works or not unless you give it a shot. Many marketers believe that the best way to increase sales is to increase your traffic. This technique is effective however what if you can increase your sales with your current traffic? Then when you get more traffic that means you’ll have even more sales then you normally would by increasing your traffic!

Split testing is a special kind of testing, designed for the people who do business online, and most of the other folks wonder what this test is all about. As far as the others are concerned, it is waste of time if any one does not take up the split test when they do their business online. One should know what is split test and how it is going to help your business. Some causes of the same, include the information that you are getting to your products, ads and to your landing pages and the feedback that you are getting for the same.

If you consider an example of selling an oven in a store, you can use your own words to sell your item and suppose that too is not working to sell your oven, then you can do things differently. Firstly, you can change the way you sell your item or you can improve your existing skills in selling or learn from someone. The faults in the process can be known and you can do alterations until it is perfect.

When you do the sale of same oven over the internet, the procedure will not be same as you do manually, because over the internet, it is not possible to ask the people, what they think about the product.

Instead of rewriting everything frequently about the product and revising, it is better to create a procedure that detects the faults that are persisting in the product. The main purpose of this test is to find out the problems in the product. It finds out the properties of your product such as in landing page, ads etc and also its non working characteristics.

For this split test, one should create two splits separately, with minor changes. Both of them need to be tested and you should select the best from those two. Consider for example that you have AdWords of two types, running and ads up, both look similar except one has the URL in capital letters of the site and the other does not. By this we can find out that capital letters can perform 0.4% more efficient than the other. In such cases, the campaigner should ensure that all of them are in capital letters.

The split testing verifies and ensures what works best in a product and what does not. For getting the final copy, which is working perfect, one should spend more time in checking the ads by comparing with the other ads.

The success of any online business depends on the split test that you carry. Internet provides very little data or nothing about how things function next to the split test results and how it carries testing. The best way to get effective results is to carry on split test. If the split test carries exactly for what it is really made for, then your web pages will surely be more powerful than others.

If you’ve done any kind of online marketing, you’re probably wondering what this split testing is that everyone is always talking about. Everyone swears by it and tells you that if you do not split test, you’re just wasting your time, but what exactly is split testing and why is it so incredibly important to the success of your business? There are a few reasons for this, starting with how much information there is on the Internet and how many different reactions you are going to get to your ads, landing pages, and products.

Say for example you are trying to sell an oven at a department store. You have a sales pitch that you use to try and sell your oven and it turns out that it doesn’t work that well. You can do a few different things here. You can change your sales pitch or better yet, you can ask someone what they didn’t like about it and adjust it carefully until it is more effective.

When trying to make that same sales pitch on the Internet, you do not have the luxury of asking anyone what they thought of your pitch. It either works or it doesn’t and you’re left to figure out exactly what went wrong.

So, instead of just completely rewriting your pitch every three weeks when your data tells you it is not working, you need to create a system that allows you to find out what the problem is. This is what split testing does. It allows you to delve deeper into the specifics of your ad, landing page, or pitch and find out what is and is not working.

To do this, you’ll create a split set of copy – each set will be only slightly different from the other. You then test both sets and see which one performs better. For example, you might have two AdWords ads up and running. They’re exactly the same except that one of them has the URL of your site in capital letters and one does not. You find out that the capital letters convert 0.4% better than without, so you make sure all future ads have capital letters.

This is what split testing does – it allows you to check and see what does and does not work on a very small scale. So, it is important that you spend as much time as you can checking and rechecking each of your various ads against each other to get the perfect final copy.

Split testing is a vital part of any online business’s success. The Internet provides little or no feedback on how things work other than your results and split testing is one of the most effective and tested methods of getting results. If you can make it work for you the way it is meant to work, you’ll quickly find that you have infinitely more power over how your pages convert as you continue forward with your campaign.

Since starting your online marketing career, you’ve probably heard a huge amount about how you’re supposed to be split testing everything you do. There is good cause for it and you’ll thank yourself in the end for being thorough enough to know if your sales tactics are actually working. However, one of the most complicated tasks when it comes to split testing is taking apart and analyzing your landing page piece by piece. It also happens to be the single most important thing you can do though. If your landing page is as effective as possible, you can boost conversions much more than with any other single tool at your disposal.

So, what exactly should you be doing when split testing those landing pages? It starts with knowing exactly how much you can change on the page at any given time. Landing pages are tricky because if you make too small of changes your results might not give you anything to work with. However, if your changes are too great, you might end up negating any changes you make or worse yet, making your site perform poorer than it was before.

So, what exactly should you be working on when you start making landing page changes? First off, you should try to create an atmosphere on your landing page that is conducive to changes. Whether or not it is visible or not doesn’t particularly matter. What does matter is whether or not you are able to easily go in and edit things as you create them.

Things that you can use for split testing include your headlines first and foremost. You should always split test headlines and subheaders. Not only are they vital for catching attention, they have a profound effect on SEO – making them a great starting place (you want to have them set as early as possible so that you can ensure they are not changed). Additionally, you can change the formatting of the page, such as the colors used for text or the background. Some people adjust the text formatting size or font, while others will tweak with actual content, rewriting how the text is presented (another good reason to have it segmented up).

One of the top ways to do all this is to create two or three landing pages at once and then set them up on the same domain in rotating cycles. Use AdWords to draw traffic to each page in equal numbers and then check and see how conversions alternate between sites.

Ultimately, if you can effectively split test your landing page, you can assure that whoever visits the site is as likely as possible to actually sit down and buy your product or service. Not testing and finding out what does and does not work makes it so you never really know if your strategies are working and that’s not something that anyone wants to get stuck with. Split test, use your data, and increase your sales.

OK so if you have been to the home page of the SplitTestMasterGuide you will notice that the site is closed and we are no longer accepting any new downloads of the Split Test Master Guide.

Now I have had a ton of questions about the Split Test Master Guide, and my launch strategy, and I gotta tell you some of the questions or should I say statements have been downright rude and offensive.

Granted 98% of people have been overjoyed and excited about the way I did things, however there are always those few…

First off, PLEASE DON’T EMAIL ME ASKING TO REOPEN the SplitTestMasterGuide.com JUST FOR YOU BECAUSE OF XYZ

CLOSED – MEANS – CLOSED!

Also to the few people out there that where “quote” “unquote” unimpressed by the fact that I was “pitching” in my emails – do me a favour and remove yourself from my newsletter, because…

Firstly, it was hardly a pitch (believe me I know what a pitch is), and secondly since I really was not selling anything, there was no pitch (either you wanted it or you did not).

And before you say yeah dude what about the $2 bucks… my answer remains… that’s hardly a sale, and there was a VERY GOOD REASON for charging a small cover fee over the download… which I will reveal shortly.

So here is a quick run down of the most common questions I have been receiving and my answer to these questons:

1. Have you really closed the site, or is this some kind of sleazy marketing trick or what?

Yes, the site is closed, and NO, this is not a trick!

I am serious about protecting the exclusivity and intellectual value of the information in the Split Test Master Guide and that means that I decided to limit how many people will get access to this information.

2. Why was there a $2.00 fee what’s the deal with that, and why did you not simply give it away for free?

I did initially plan on giving the SplitTestMasterGuide away for free, however my colleagues where mad as hell at the idea because of the amount of value and time I have put into the guide.

The actual consensus amongst them was that the guide should sell for nothing less than $197.00, however I sold them on the idea that if I charged a small fee (i.e $2.00) that would automatically get rid of the “freeloaders” – and at the same protect the integrity of the information.

It’s been my experience that when people pay for something, that they are far more likely to actually use it than had they got it for free.

Plus because I am such a sneaky and deviously clever marketer I am actually training my subscribers subliminally with each $2.00 purchase to empty there wallets at my feet next time…

OK come on now – the last part was a JOKE!

3. Will you ever open up the site again?

I am sure we will, because the plan was always to let 2000 people in, so we still have another 1000 spots available to hand out as and when the timing is right.

However right now I want to make sure that the people who took action get my full attention, and I really don’t see us opening the site anytime soon – sorry.

4. What about the Joint Venture Program, how can we promote something that is closed?

Good question… I don’t know the answer to that!

Ok I am kidding around once again… The JV program stands because we will be introducing a whole bunch of other neat products around the site that webmasters will be able to promote.

That’s that for now…

OH and one more thing… I am going underground for a few weeks which will include a little holiday abroad, and then some serious work on my new projects (outside of the IM niche) that require my attention.

So it might be a while before you hear from me again

After 600 man hours of writing and development, we are just days way from the SOFT Launch of the Split Test Master Guide and I am so excited I can hardly contain myself.

We originally anticipated doing a full blown launch of the Split Test Master Guide a few months back, however I just felt there was A HUGE amount of noise in the market place.

With Jeff Johnsons crew (you know who) totally dominating the product launch scene, I really did not want to taint the image of the Split Test Master Guide by bundling it into the same old product launch routine.

Instead we have chosen to do a soft launch and only accept 1000 downloads of the Split Test Master Guide, then we’ll close the doors and possibly do another launch later down the line.

The emphasis for me with this product is to get away from the hype, and really attract people who are serious about improving their online businesses.

Split Testing is one of those functions in your business that I highly recommend your DON’T outsource.

Don’t get me wrong here, there are many great service providers and consultants that can and will do a great job of pushing up your conversions through the use of split testing.

However, for most small business owners and webiste operators, I always recommend you undergo the learning curve and actually split test yourself.

Why do I say this?

Well every split test involves a great deal of interpretation, in other words you are constantly figuring out why your target audience reacts to certain elements, and this interpretation gives you some of the best insight you will ever get on your prospects and clients.

The problem with outsourcing your split testing, is that YES you will get a better result and improve your conversions short term, but long term you loose out on being able to connect and gain insight for your market.

Some of my best product and business ideas have come from studying my visitor’s behaviour and it goes without saying that the same will be true for your business.

If you do decide to outsource your slit testing, I highly recommend that you at least become actively involved in the decision making and interpretation process, because without out becoming actively involved you will most certainly be missing a major opportunity.

As a consultant, I have always made an effort to get my clients involved the process, and not only has this proven to be of value from the clients side, but as the split tester, the client often provides valuable insights and experience that adds to the entire split testing process.

Firstly let’s clarify exactly what a landing page is: A landing page is any page that has a specific purpose, such as making a sale or getting a visitor to subscribe.

Whilst the home page on a website can be considered a landing page, because visitors usually have several options from a home page, this is considered too general to be a landing page as per the definition above.

There are essentially two types of landing pages, a sales page (intended to generate sales), and a squeeze or opt-in page (intended to generate leads).

These types of landing pages are typically very easy to test, since the target actions (sale or opt-in) are clearly defined.

However each type of landing page requires a different approach in terms of interpreting the results.

For example in long sales pages, the idea is to keep the visitor engaged in the copy long enough in order for them to be led towards making a purchase.

Whereas, squeeze pages are designed to rapidly grab the visitor’s intention and get them to instantly make a decision to opt-in, so naturally a shorter engagement with your visitors is required.

It is these subtle differences and applications in the split testing of landing pages that can make the difference between a mediocre or major increase in conversions

When one split tests a landing page, it always important to consider the objective (target action) and then to design and interpret your test accordingly.
